Abnormal levels of cannabinoid receptors in the immune system of MS patients were significantly DECREASED after they received their regular medication (Interferon), according to a team of scientists from Spain and Texas.
Published by the British Society for Immunology, the study found that prior to treatment, MS patients had significantly elevated levels of CB2 receptors in the immune system.
Remarkably, the level of receptors decreased within six months to one year of interferon treatment.
Added to what researchers already suspect about how cannabis extracts may control pain, reduce muscle paralysis and protect the brain from further injury, it’s becoming increasing cleat that the endocannabinoid system is related to this devastating auto-immune disease.
