Longstanding pain in a horse was relieved with a low dose of CBD, according to clinical commentary published in Equine Veterinary Education.
This suggests that the skin is rich in cannabinoid receptors, it says.
“Increased sensitivity” to CBD in dogs
A 2018 study also showed that arthritic dogs had a “significant decrease in pain” with CBD-oil, says the article.
It says dogs have more cannabinoid receptors in the brain as compared with humans.
The article calls for controlled studies of CBD in large animals.
The study’s authors hail from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
